My fiance and I are those people that discovered Portlandia after Carrie Brownstein’s New Yorker and NY Times articles. We watched one episode one night and then, like, the remaining five episodes of season 1 on New Year’s Eve.
It’s because of that show that we started watching Battlestar Galactica. Sadly, for me, I don’t find it as wildly gripping as I found Mad Men or even Downtown Abbey. Maybe I find that there’s too much fighting and not enough character development. Oh, and also, I find it hard to suspend my disbelief and I hate Gaius Baltar. In any event, I was happy to watch the Battlestar sketch on the re-run of Portlandia last night, just because I now have some familiarity with the show and the characters.
