I have written six pages today, for a grand total of 12.5 pages. Pretty good for three days of writing. I’m exhausted because I stayed up a little too last night. I think I’m going to take a power-nap and re-group.

6.5 pages. Now time for gym, then some business on campus. I probably won’t have time later to write another half page. But that’s cool.

barackobama: Meet Debbie Bosanek, otherwise known as Warren Buffett’s secretary—and the inspiration behind the “Buffett Rule.” Hm… It seems that the Romney camp’s way of spinning things is to emphasize that he acted legally when paying his taxes. The Romneys are also emphasizing that it is not their “fault” that they pay low taxes. Both arguments miss the point...

2.5 pages down. Not stellar. Not horrible. I usually write better in the mornings, so how about I aim for seven completed pages tomorrow?

When I return from my afternoon swim (yes, I am so lucky that I can take off in the middle of the day), I will begin to write my fourth chapter.

Think Progress: 6 Facts About Mitt Romney's Taxes/... →
think-progress: 1. Romney paid a lower tax rate than many middle-class Americans, at 13.9 percent. 2. Romney makes more in a day than the average American makes in a year, and becomes a 1 percenter every week. 3. Romney likely paid $0 in payroll taxes. 4. Hahaha! My fiance and I are those people that discovered Portlandia after Carrie Brownstein’s New Yorker and NY Times articles. We watched one episode one night and then, like, the remaining five episodes of season 1 on New Year’s Eve. It’s because of that show that we started watching Battlestar Galactica. Sadly, for me, I don’t find it as wildly gripping as I found Mad...

Heads up: boring post about a stupid book. As I mentioned before, I’m reading up on some general history of religion in Europe in order to prepare for the class I am teaching this summer. The great thing about preparing for this class is it’s forcing me to learn things that I should know but, up until this point, have survived not knowing and have been too busy to learn. Like, for...

Thanks to my “30 minutes of reading Russian news sites a day” (update: I do this about once a week), I just discovered that the Russian government has a website where people can complain about potholes that are bigger than the legal size (15 cm long, 60 cm wide, 5 cm deep). You can check out photos of potholes and see where they are located on a map. Talk about civil...

Coincidences! Today, as we were gearing up for an Ikea trip, we watched the end of Chopped and saw this woman win and say how thankful she was for her girlfriend. Then, at Ikea, we saw the chef and her girlfriend. Can you believe it?! I totally freaked out! I wanted to run up to her and say, “I just saw you on TV!” I mean, what are the odds?

Things that are stupid. For two years (at least), I’ve had an email signature that includes my email address. I felt so professional just creating the signature that it took me about a month to realize how redundant my email address in the signature was. But, I’ve been too lazy to change it. But! Not too lazy to manually delete it from emails. Just corrected it. Took two seconds.

Uh-oh! Wedding fever! I got an email today from my contact at the venue and she included a link to the venue’s twitter feed. New Year’s Resolutions, one week down. Why not do a weekly update? I already mentioned that I only cooked three out of five weekday evenings. This week I’m going to try to stick to a schedule where I do intensely-focused work...
